The past 4 months have been quite amazing, really. I spent most of my time in the place I love the most, the theatre. Dulaang UP's ADARNA, was one hell of a production. I've been on "sepanx mode" lately, so I thought that blogging about my Adarna experience would help in easing the empty feeling I have inside of me. Chos! Ang drama hahahahaha. Pagbigyan na please, thesis ko naman 'tong play na 'to eh :P
We started having rehearsals during the month of May, it was all fun because it was more of a workshop and time for exploration for all of us. We were given parts of the script and we were to block ourselves and present our own interpretation of the text to our Director. This style of rehearsals was new to me because I was used to the traditional way of staging a play; reading the text and then the actors are to be blocked by the Director. But in our case, we were to read the text, present our own interpretation and then we were given blocking. This was interesting especially since we were all given the chance to explore different roles during each rehearsal. I have to admit, it was also a bit nerve-wracking though because there was always this sense of uncertainty as to which role we will be playing once the show takes off. Luckily, I was given the chance to play one of the Adarna girls (Orange Feather), one of the Donya Maria Blancas, and Prinsesa Leonora.
ADARNA has been such a great experience for me and has taught me a lot. I've learned to not be so conscious about how I act and move on stage, and it has definitely let me step out of my comfort zone even more. It has been such a blessing to be part of this amazing production. My heart goes out to the cast, staff and artistic team; we all started out as co-workers/friends and now we end as a FAMILY. <3 So muuuch love! :*
